Dr. S. Divyasena

Divyasena, a versatile and accomplished artist was initiated into Bharatanatyam at the tender age of seven. Having trained in the preliminaries of Bharatanatyam with Smt. Saroja Rani, she made her stage debut with her Arangetram in 1985 in the presence of eminent artists. Later she continued her rigorous training under ‘Yuva Kala Bharathi’ Sri. J Suryanarayana Murthy, with great fervor and sincerity. While her meticulous training in abhinaya happened under ‘Padma Bhushan’ Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan, her initiation into Kuchipudi happened at the Kuchipudi Arts Academy, which was helmed by none other than the legendary ‘late’Guru ‘Padma Bhushan’ Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. Divyasena had her initial years of training in Kuchipudi under Sri. Udayakanth and Smt. Renuka. Her advanced training in Kuchipudi is now under the able tutelage of Sri. Kishore Mosalikanti, an accomplished dancer and choreographer with profound knowledge and understanding of the subtlest nuances of the kuchipudi repertoire. Her erudition in the two legendary Indian classical dance forms, Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, stands testimony to the numerous spread of students in her school. Smt. Divyasena considers Smt. Nandini Ramani, ‘Padma Shri’ Smt. Chitra Visweswaran, ‘Padma Bhushan’ Prof. C V Chandrasekhar, ‘Padma Bhushan’ Sri. V P Dhananjayan & Smt. Shanta Dhananjayan and ‘Kalaimamani’ Sri. M V Narasimhachari as her role models and takes their suggestions to develop her skills. She has also learnt the art of wielding cymbals, the Nattuvangam, from Sri.B.P. Haribabu. This makes her an adept performer and all-rounder in the field of fine arts, music and dance.
